Double Header Whoosh

Double Header Whoosh

A Poem by Holly Mason

grab your choice cap
head out into the sun
the stadium shines

just a double header
springtime training fun
the tap of the bat

trying to sit, seat so hot
smiling, duck and miss
whoosh right past

that feeling of fear
that comes from a ball
moving at you..at 90 mph

tap, hit, smile, so hot
whew tangy beer and peanuts
lick the shell...we all do

5th inning hunger hits
hot dog time
ketchup, mustard, so baseball

tap, duck, hit, miss
beautiful double header day
7th inning stretch..take me out to

so hot sweat drips
crowd screaming, fun gleaming
tush sticks to the sit...wiggle we all do

baseball hit...caught in crowd
handed to a child, tradition proud
beer is tangy, hits the throat

fly ball, sun is blinding
pictures, mascots, dug out seats
smell the cleats on clay

hot dog ,mustard on his chin
she licks her thumb...we all do
rubs that mustard off...TRUE LOVE

baseball double header
super whoosh day
hit, tap, duck, miss...

Hi Holly. A very good write about a double header baseball game. Good imagery and descriptives. Through the lens of your eye, you've painted a vivid picture of what goes on in the stadium that any reader can see in their mind's eye. Good flow and tone. Good depth of feeling. I can relate; it has been a while since I've been to a game, but you put me right there with your woods. Good word choice. Nice use of onomatopoeia. Good closing lines. Well penned and a most enjoyable read. Write on!

You're welcome. Thank you for sharing the game, Holly. Have a great day!
Makes me want to head out to a game - your details put me right there! Peanut shells, seventh-inning stretch, sunshine (and maybe a win for the team...) Great write, full of smiles! :)

win for the team...yup yup*)
thank you for reading teach!!
This was wonderful to read for me Holly dear, for it gives me the feeling I don't ever have faced myself, being into such a game world as your world shares... (for I have been into European stadions) and all, but never into a baseball game...(only in movies and books I've been there). A fantastic feeling! thanks for sharing dear.

You have definitely captured the feeling of being at the game in this one. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a good baseball game, sitting in the seats, drinking beer and eating hot dogs. Very nice my friend.
