Dear Cancer,

Dear Cancer,

A Poem by Holly Mason

         Dear Cancer,
Hello, I know we have met, but my name is Holly. I have a few questions to ask you.
First why did you pick me? Is it because I am a super great friend? Or you just happened
to be flying by one day and said "Oh she looks good". My second question is, do you have a
family? If you do, you should pay attention to them and you wouldn't be so lonely. Third
question is a bit loaded, is there any cure for you? I mean I think you could at least
give a clue. My fourth and final question...why do you exist? Just wondering. I have a
lot of life left in me and I am hoping you change your mind. If you find that you cannot
redo this deal, then I understand. I will let you know (ahead of time) that you have a
fight on your hands. I am coming out fists fully ready and I will not go down easy. You
can take your time or we can have a quick face to face. Your choice. I never said I
would lay down peacefully. You can write me back if you would like. I will even
enclose a pre-addressed pre-paid envelope. I think you have a lot of issues. Do not
mean to be rude but you picked this fight...not me.
                                                        Fighting like a fighter should,
                                                               your nemesis, Holly
P.S. before you pick on anyone else or even think you should....finish the fight with me.
I will be ready anytime ,anyplace , anywhere....leave other folks alone, you twit.
(twit is not what I want to say but I am not a great user of profanity) but you Cancer
are an a--hole. (just sayin')

Fight with all the passion in your being, Holly. I finished chemo for stage 3 Uterus cancer in March. You can win this battle. Stay positive and surround yourself with love (knock the negative idiots on their rears!). I will keep you in my prayers.

This disease never made too much sense to me. Additional cell growth? Hormones? Estrogen? Even chemicals in shampoo and deodorant and hair dyes?

Great open letter to a thing we can't even speak to, Holly.

nice review for the thing that makes folks well, kinda squirmy*)
thank you much
I don't know the full source of your inspiration...do I dare ask? This rips at my heart...I have lost so many to this monster. However I think "the cure" is the real killer. So beware of conventional medicine, I don't think the motives are honest. You sound strong...and you sound like a fighter...SO if this demon has found you....it's survival of the fittest sweetie....let me hear you say "I am woman HEAR ME ROAR!"

Holly, this is a most impressive write - a heavy topic faced with courage, honesty and humor. I wonder what the reply letter would say?

Sending good vibes and prayers your way, my friend.
