Cold Heart

Cold Heart

A Poem by Hannah
"

~Experimental~

"
Under the shade of the tree,
my heart beats ever faster.
Your gaze never turns away.
Love in every word you say.

Why can't you remember the times like those?
I'm left with your scent on my clothes.
All my dreams put to death.
My heart aches with each breath.

You said you would never leave.
Now I'm alone on Christmas Eve.
I lay awake, staring at the stars
while my heart sits behind bars.

The pain of loss when a relationship ends… The worst part is the end of hope, the lost promise – that makes finding closure almost impossible. There’s never a finality to the grief of a lost relationship. We can find a new path, and move on, maybe even put the pain behind us, looking forward in new joys. But, how do you find closure when someone just walks away?

A relationship ending is painful cause its hard to move on from someone that feels like home. Very beautifully written and relatable.

Made my heart hurt reading this. The line that seems all too real is, "I'm left with your scent on my clothes."
Even when someone leaves, they always leave reminders behind.

Thank you for your review, Pete.
The title is very fitting, and the point is well expressed. Lying away, with nothing to do but think of that person. Very poignant.

Quietly emotional write, Hannah.

The feelings portrayed in this poem are infinitely relatable; a love that was so full of promise having now been reduced to only memory, yet the heart within still remains imprisoned to the affections of the departed lover.

Simple in its eloquence and with nothing more to say...

A finely poignant poem. Nicely written.
