One Day

a philosophical poem

Did you ever wish to see

to really see

beneath the ocean

behind the horizon

through plants and trees

till the end of the universe

 

Did you ever wish to feel

to really feel

the light on your skin

the brightness of the day

memories that long have passed

until you can‘t remember

 

Did you ever wish to hear

to really hear

the sound of a smile

the touch of love

noises of pictures in your head

that long ago you made

 

Did you ever wish to smell

to really smell

the sound of wind in the trees

the hotness of the sun

time flying by way too fast

until your heart stops beating

 

Did you ever wish to taste

 to really taste

the air of a warm summer night

the coldness of ice against your skin

a hot breath whispering in your ear

that everything comes to an end

 

One day, I promise you, you will

I think this is one of your best works. When you let go of rhyming, your words flow much better, I also was held captive to rhyming for a long time but then I tried to just write what was inside, without rhyme. It is so much more liberating and poetic.

This has a kind of ring of a song about it.

I completely agree with you! While I love Poems that rhyme, it usually sounds unnatural and stop the flow.
