Remember Me

Remember Me

A Poem by Hannah Paige

Don’t cry

Don’t speak

Don’t shake and don’t despair

All I ask

is that you remember

Not forever

Not always

But remember for now

The fleeting moments

The bittersweet goodbyes

The warmth in your hands

The twinge in your breath

The sloppy kisses

Please,

Just remember what was said

Remember what it meant

Don’t let the thought linger

But simply let it be born

Pass through

Die

And know it was there

Never doubt

You remembered

Embers

And ashes

Will beg you

To remember

What they mean

But I don’t care about that

Just remember what they meant

That once

Just once

When you smiled

Into my neck

Told me a secret

Fucked me up

Do you remember

What ‘I love you’ means?

How to say it?

It doesn’t have to be a lie, you know

Do you remember

How to believe it?

How to mean it?

Can you tell me where it goes

When it’s not true anymore?

Please, for me

Remember the truth

Just for a moment,

Remember

How you love me

Think of me

Kiss me

F**k me up

Remember

Please

Not forever

Not always

But now.

Just now

Remember me

Hold this memory

In your shaking fist

Whisper with your quivering lips

And then please,

Forget me

Please, forget me

This emotions of this poem are relentless. The blows rained down one after another until the recipient was beaten down into total submission. Some say that sometimes bad attention is better than none at all. I somehow understand how that could be true after feeling so many reasons why a person just doesn't care anymore. I loved the brutal honesty and the strength of it all...refusing to accept being taken for granted.

that is a powerhouse of emotion so gently delivered..it simmers in the mind..never reaching boiling point..thats the point I think..it's not a rant so doesn't need that build up..this is more subtle but just as emotive if not more..brimming with feelings loved it...loved it!!

This poem is strange. I don't know if it is sarcastic at the beginning or not and then it seems to twist. The phrase "f**k me up" makes the piece very filthy and seem like the relationship had was a parasitic one. I liked the usage though it could have been a bit shorter. Good write!

A beautiful, poignant, passionate poem filled with deep pain and perhaps with a hint of regret.

Pretty strong emotions. Each line is short and direct. It's desperately honest, it really shoots through the reader.
