Sunset Soon Forgotten

Sunset Soon Forgotten

A Poem by Hannah

A canvas of serenity, stained with pink vibrant paint,

As the inevitable night consumes the days essence so faint.

An ominous moon hypnotizes the glowing, dancing sea,

And seeps through the suffocating forest which reaches threateningly for me.

Water gently caresses the glistening rocks then hastily retreats,

An endless perfect moment where the powerful sea and the vigilant land meets.

The sea is pierced by a pathway of beaming white,

As the moon emits its tantalizing, beautiful light.

With its icy breath the night lingers, so close yet so far.

Balancing precariously on the edge I realize how insignificant we are.

One step further and we would disappear.

One more reason to forever remain here.

Smoke twists gracefully and elegantly flies,

Another night concealed by deceitful lies.

My senses are sharpened as I bathe in the nights shade,

I feel my worry and paranoia blissfully fade.

A jumper protects me from the slippery, damp ground.

I'm so grateful for this beautiful place you have found.

Blaring rock music disturbs the alluring, silent night,

This enticing, eerie atmosphere feels so painfully right.

The ocean is static and wearily begins to fade,

As we are absorbed by the orange clouds an the shapes they have made.

This is who I am, this who I shall eternally be.

It is breathtakingly enlightening to finally be me.

Another great work on the insignificance of individuality, and yet, in the end, "enlightening to finally be me." I like this better than Worthless not because of the message but because of the imagery you so wonderfully portray. You have some wonderful insight to some interesting matters, especially for a kid, or anyone for that matter.

This is amazing Hannah, truly breathtaking. M favorite line is "One step further and we would disappear". It reminds me of the fragility of humanity.
I've really noticed that your poetry is really descriptive, so much so that I wish my poems were as descriptive. You give me something to inspire my writing!

I love the picture you paint with this poem. You paint this place full of wonder that I would love to visit in my dreams. Thanks for this poem!

I like the place you took me in your words. Some places can steal our bad thoughts and misery away. Good story led reader to a very nice ending. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Quite a peaceful poem, mature and great images. Agree with Casey, the first line is a keeper but it is the last one that speaks of such confidence, assurance. Wouldn't we all love to finally know ourselves?

Thank you.
