The Real Enemy

The Real Enemy

A Poem by Harmartia Poe

Shots are fired.

Friend or foe?

Who’s the enemy?

Nobody knows.

It’s not a soldier

a nurse, a Jew,

or even a Nazi

with the battle wound.

The family needs food

the war only gave hunger.

Little did they know

he wouldn’t live any longer.

Loaf in hand with

a blood spewing head

His whole life ends

with a circle of lead

He didn’t care

what side we were on

As long as bullets sailed

evil had won.

Survivors clear the ruins

Dictators went, allies came,

but when our hearts still

We are one in the same.

Harmartia Poe
Not to be anti-patriotic, but war has never sat with me right.

Nor me. War is an abomination. Curious isn't it, that despite the vast majority of mankind knowing this to be the case, conflict has been with us from the moment we first stood upright. If I were in charge of the world I would ban war instantly, although the dilemma of course, would be how to enforce the ban.

Beccy.

Glad we have the same viewpoint :)
This from your poem is valuable and it explains why persons that want to try to start arguements should be avoided and ignored.
