Agonizing love

I wrote this poem for someone that is trapped in my heart, we can't be together right now for so many reasons, but we hope, we pray, the distance and space is agonizing, but the love and pain is real

My heart screams out in agony
Don’t leave me, please don’t go
Even though my mind understands
My heart refuses to know

My heart is banging, against my chest
Screaming out in pain
Screaming out your name
My mind is not at rest

For heart and mind are at war
Torn between reason and feeling
Torn between patience and passion
Or just torn, when patient is so fleeting

The mind can always rationalize
But the heart, will always know
The heart will always feel
The love will only grow

And sometimes I want to scream
When the war inside of me
Psychically ails me, physically hurts my soul
But then I think of what may be

But then I think of what may be
One day, when we reunite
One day when you besides me
Forever, and I’ll say, “Never let me go.”

So patient is my heart
And wary is my mind
But both heart and mind together know
That one day you will be mine
