A Simple Winter Night

A Simple Winter Night

A Poem by Lily Victoria

It seems to become colder and colder.
As winter approaches,
Every form of life begins its descent into a
Very,
Long,
Sleep.
Leaves float and dew leaps.
Trees stiffen and creeks freeze over.
Everything except for Dark,
Bare skin,
Which suddenly lightens like the sun.
The unseen becomes seen and
Warmth rises never to be seen again.
Colors from a deep and dark perception,
But in the detail of it all,
Lies perfection.
A season of time can result in complex emotion and affects.
Sickness or warmth can make themselves known,
But that's their choice.
Empty houses with only wreaths and mistletoe,
Can feel like the comforts of home without knowing it.
A light show with blizzards and button noses,
Begin to age in matter.
Warmth by an open fire,
Is all that matters at the moment.
You sit there with the people you love so much,
And you can't help,
But be joyful.
Warmth isn't only found in the fireplace,
But in the joy and smiles of the ones we hold closest to our hearts.
It's something that doesn't have to be fed to stay kindled.
Love never burns out.
But as the fire begins to die out,
The adventure only starts to begin.
As stories are told,
And the night finally ends.
