No flowers, fair weather friends or God

No flowers, fair weather friends or God

A Poem by Gee
"

Mum's funeral....family flowers only

"
Like many of her so called friends,
the fair weather, absent ones,
he too never visited,
never lent his ear or comforted her,
so we felt it only right he not come to the funeral either.

Not too long ago, on Facebook, a friend posted a rant about how she is NOT having a memorial service when she dies becuz she doesn't want anyone to come to her funeral if they could not find the time to be part of her life. I commented that I agree wholeheartedly, but why plan the end of your life in response to people who don't care about you? She jumped down my throat. I unfriended her. I do agree that it's totally hypocritical of so many people to cry alligator tears in death when they couldn't even reach out in life! I'm sorry there's so much pain associated with the end of your mum's life. I admire you for being able to express the things that are so crunchy (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Been to three funerals in the last month. I can empathize with this feeling. But I will say of the three one in particular. The car is stretched for 3 miles in the train pulled up to the cemetery. Here was the life touch so many others

The loss of a parent is monumental, there's just no other way to define it. I wish you peace and comfort in the difficult days ahead. Good to see you, Gordon. My best to you and your family.

This is a powerful punch, Gee. You are right. If people are not present during a lifetime, they need not be hypocritical and come to a funeral. No one wants to see them there. I feel your emotion in this. Lydi**

Such sad and angry words, Gee. Truth too often shows itself in troubled times. I lit a candle a while ago for your darling mum; seems you and your darlings need one for yourselves now.. ..

I believe new world. Harder and colder. When I was young, we had family reunions. Can't remember the last one we did. Grandmother funeral. Only me and sister came. Was sad. Thank you for my friend for sharing the amazing words and your thoughts.
