She stole the light then painted white all summer's fading green..

She stole the light then painted white all summer's fading green..

A Poem by Gee
"

Autumn..More simple stuff !!

"
She chased away the summer sun
bringing skies of leaden grey,
drew night time curtains early eve
stole light from every day.

And with a chill breath stirred the air
loosed leaves from tired limbs,
replaced the chorus of the dawn
with crisp and frosted hymns.

This rousing those intent on sleep
to gather up and store,
fallen fruit to see them through
behind hibernations door.

Then once content her work well done
she silently did go,
inviting winter take her place
to blanket all in virgin snow.

Good morning dearest Gordon,
Lovely thoughts of the seasons changing...
Then once content her work well done
she silently did go,
inviting winter take her place
.......
I really love these lines...They sing out to me..
Our weather is so strange here... Really so hot the other day and today cold enough for a fire...which I am looking forward to.
In California we really did not see the seasons change but here in Spain we do..although..no snow...
Again really enjoyed this...
Lisa

Thanks Lisa. Hope you are both well.
A beautiful transition of the seasons poem that reminds us that winter is just around the corner. I just hope it is a big corner because I am not ready yet. Nicely done, the rhymes and the flow are perfect.

This is a poem on winter that will stay with me. The second verse was simply breathtaking and such a beautiful tribute to an otherwise chilling and stark season. A great message and elegant word choice make this a very special write. My compliments on such superb craftsmanship, dear Gee.

' .. .. replaced the chorus of the dawn ~ with crisp and frosted hymns.@

What a brilliantly created view of Autumn.. Fall.. What an eye-catching and appropriate title too.

There was a time when i'd open your page, fully expecting to be amused and also amazed at the way you wrote that day's poem. Now, i step into your world and find finely craft, smoothly laid words that echo wh at i think are your emotions, Gee. Comes a time when the world calls us to look and see, both eyes wide open. And how you see that season's fading moody reminders.

I meant it, your poem's beautiful. (Forgive my typos however)
a lovely classic poem. i enjoyed reading your cold & wintery descriptions, though i'm glad we don't experience snow where i live.

when visiting my sister winter holidaying in aspen one year, i was dismayed how long it took to rug up just so you could go outside without freezing up. i like snow in postcards but not for real.

Can't stand the cold either Carola, give me sunshine anyway :)
Thank you
I lost something once; it took me an almost unbelievably absurd amount of time and resources to make it right again. It reminded me of winter without all the f*****g weather. Winter is more than weather.

Good morning Dave, hope you are virus free and well :))
Apologies for the tardy thank you .
It's kinda fun to read your PMS (walking on eggshells) poem & then this poem, right afterwards! It goes to show that your perspective is well-balanced. What woman would want to be described as in the other poem. And what woman would NOT want to be described as in this one? Very lyrical & heartfelt writing (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
