She stole the light then painted white all summer's fading green..

She stole the light then painted white all summer's fading green..

A Poem by Gee
"

Autumn..More simple stuff !!

"
She chased away the summer sun
bringing skies of leaden grey,
drew night time curtains early eve
stole light from every day.

And with a chill breath stirred the air
loosed leaves from tired limbs,
replaced the chorus of the dawn
with crisp and frosted hymns.

This rousing those intent on sleep
to gather up and store,
fallen fruit to see them through
behind hibernations door.

Then once content her work well done
she silently did go,
inviting winter take her place
to blanket all in virgin snow.

Wonderful poem for the season of Fall. The cold day arrived in Michigan. I do like the pace of the Fall. Seem slower and easier. Amazing use of description my dear friend. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my dear friend.
Well timed Gee. First snowfall this fine, brisk morn. Once i got over mumbling under my breath and stomping my feet, i could enjoy the picture postcard scene... Before i remembered it will be Monday soon and i will be tramping through it all day, blah!
I like how you set this one up, with not only the scene, but nature winding up in preperation of those lucky enough to hibernate. Lucky sods 😀

Wow for me this is such a fabulous exotic poem as mother nature covered all in virgin snow like u talk of yer place and how you creatively say, ' hibernation's door'. Kudos for such awesome imagery.

You're welcome 👍
dear Gee... your poem is as fragile as a
falling leaf from a "tired limb singing a frosted hymn".
The gentleness of your rhyme has me entwined in the
time of year when fallen fruit is baked in pies and
seasoned with nutmeg and cinnamon and lots of love and giving.
truly charming, Pat

wonderful winters poem ..you have a gift for rhythm Gee .. and the rhyming is superb .. nothing forced nor trite ... syntax is as we speak ... comfortably .. love this winter offering my friend ... we barely see snow here in the Ozarks of Arkansas .. but when i took Beauregard (our younger dog) out i could smell it on the wind coming out of the south actually ... thanks again for your words about Bella .. i can see you with your two good friends easily .. scratch their bellies for me will ya!?

love this poem ... :) and the title .. its length and importance to the poem has freed my minimalist mind a bit ... i am sure a longer title will pop out for me one of these days as a result

you too Gee!! best of the day to ya!
I read not only our seasons here, but the "season of life," especially the colors... green, grey, white, all rich with symbolism. Whether Mother Nature or another lovely lady, we love her colors and shades of character. Well written!

Good morning. Thank you
The snow is loveliest when undisturbed. It's hard to believe that all those little snowflakes that fall one by one can accumulate the way they do. Mother Nature is truly something to marvel!

I forgot to mention - I really love the title!

Thank you Kelly. As others have said the title would be a fine line to wedge into another write.
Ah, my favorite times of the year, fall, winter and spring too. I loathe summer! North Carolina can never decide from one day to the next. Our kids go to school wearing long jeans, long sleeve shirt and jacket to get on the bus. By lunchtime, the jeans are rolled up to the knees, the sleeves are pushed up past the elbow and the jacket is stuffed inside the bookbag. When I was a kid, Thanksgiving holiday meant sweaters, fireplaces and soups. Now, it's tee shirts, flipflops, open windows and icecream. Christmas meant possibly snow, coats, high electric bills and prayers for Spring. Now, it's checking the Weather Channel every two hours to figure out how to dress. My Dad used to say that Mother Nature must have tripped over South Carolina on her way up, hit her head and just can't remember what month it is.

But your poem is awesome and everything the seasons should be.
