The Coming

The Coming

A Poem by Gee
"

Silently it reaps

"
O'er bowed down yellow daffodils
through chiming blue bell seas,
'cross fields of gamboling new life
blows a chill, uneasy breeze.
That whispers of a coming
that has ne'er been seen before,
and will leave the streets deserted
as folk cower behind closed door.
For this coming will be misery,
will be heartache, sudden deaths
as it preys upon the elderly
reaping wantonly last breaths...

Beautiful imagery that unravels with the stark reality and sadness of the present. Current times have taught us to be creative with our situation. Think outside the norm and get on with it. Nice job Gee.

Thank You Duff

what's up with me.. it can't be cabin fever because I have been getting around okay.. it was not until about half way through that I realized you were painting a picture of the here and now and the devastation this bloody virus is having on not only us as a nation but the world.. starkly contrasting two halves of a well crafted whole...

I am okay Gee thank you, but will be glad when all this is well behind us all..
Good Gee. Funnily enough apart from the loss of seeing friends and family I've spent time every day out on exercise (we are lucky to live in the country) and bluebells and daffodils will form a large part of my memory of this. It has been a very strange time and I haven't heard the fat lady singing yet.
Take care,
Alan

Hello Gee. ... Bravo!
.... this both beautifully crafted and has a fluid rhythm... you have managed to meld visual beauty with wrenching reality... albeit a surreal kind of reality.
S true pleasure to read.

Woahh... an anticipatory poem. "Uneasy breeze" is right. You set the mood of this poem excellently, I feel... "uneasy" reading it. So- good job! I hope you are well in this confusion whirlwind of contamination, social media, and statistics.
