"such magnificence in death," such a paradoxical line. I really enjoy that.
The seasons are about to change once again. Winter draws to an end, and Spring is finally just around the corner, but a good poem like this is timeless.
Magnificent! I was completely transported into this scene. The feeling of anticipation, of winter coming is woven expertly into this poem. The life and character you gave autumn, the season of death and fire, is breathtaking. Thank You.
Visual to the nth degree, Gee, thoughtful steps beyond the season itself. What you've stressed is that tho life is gradually dying in the great outdoors, it's still amazingly beautiful. Your chat and chit between posts shows a light side bur deep inside and so often displayed are the depths shown in your finely metered phrasing.
So hope all's well for you and your beautiful girls. Take care, keep safe, keep happy.. best can. Please.

Apologies for late reply as have been waiting for a few " prolific" quills to not be before venturing back !
This has been the year when days and months have been totally irrelevant.
It's as if the year has been totally cancelled, and we're starting again next year.
Let's hope next year will kick off well, and we get back to reality.
it fascinates how the leaves fall to nourish and keep the roots warm while trees are sleeping, not dead, though some do die out. Fall and winter are magical as well, I like to enjoy them from inside, not keen on being cold but if you have the right stuff to keep you warm...its amazing have you been snow skiing? I used to go once upon a time in Winter park in Colorado, so much fun, but I have to agree with Chris, spring is still my fav. (And Colorado chili has squash in it????? ugh what's up with that?) I love hows this rhymes so beautifully, such a nice piece.

I love the subtlety with which you paint the birds. I love how you weave together brilliance & fading dimness. I love how you contrast this riot of sensory inputs with the stark cold white to come -- it gives the subtle idea that the colorful profusion is treasured, held onto, for it will be gone soon (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you kindly. You are much appreciated by many
And very good rhyming it is, too, especially in verse 2. The inner knowledge of animals, such as the birds in the poem, never ceases to amaze me. It's as though they're all psychic. I know my cats are. They know when it's feeding time long before I do. Then again, maybe the little buggers are running a scam on me.

I loved the poem dear friend.
"Then before all colour painted white,
before winters bell it chimes,
as one on wing they'll take their leave
and head to warmer climes."
The above lines. I did enjoy. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
