Burying 2020

Burying 2020

A Poem by Gee
"

Good riddance

"
We'll gather by your open grave
as bells echo out loud,
no tears or flowers be offered up
to fall upon your shroud.
For you my friend will not be missed
your leaving will be cheered,
though your memory will linger on
in most minds ever seared.
But hope comes with your burying,
a light at tunnels end,
with smiles replacing misery
as the world begins to mend...

Happy New year folks :))

I really loved the personification of the year as a bad friend in this poem and here we are about to bury 2022 soon. I am very interested in knowing what you'd think of 2022.

A recent visit by yet another variant would appear to make your write just as applicable to 2021, but Canucks are on a 6 game winning streak, so it hasn't be all downhill

Yes, we happily said goodbye to 2020. The pandemic. A lunatic leader.

Missed this one Gee. I have to say most people I know were glad to see the back of 2020. Most of us didn't know that we were going to get another dose in 2021. Thank goodness there is light now at the end of the tunnel. Carefully does it though.

Yeah, 2020 should be erased, and never mentioned. Unfortunately a hundred thousand families have it ingrained now. Let's hope 2021 is this end of the deaths.

Yes and amen. This year deserves no epitaph. But the poem speaks for it - and resonates
