Pretty flowers in her hair

Pretty flowers in her hair

A Poem by Gee
"

Simple words

"
Come rain or shine no matter what
you'll find her in the square
wearing tatty clothes over grimy skin
with pretty flowers in her hair.

Nobody knows from where she comes
and few I doubt true care
as she feeds those gathered 'bout her feet
with pretty flowers in her hair.

What others think of no consequence
for she has song and seed to share
so she sings to those that flutter down
with pretty flowers in her hair.

And when this done, her friends all fed
she'll be gone as if never there
pushing all she owns in a creaky cart
with pretty flowers in her hair.

lovely rhyming poem with a nice story.
to me, this sort of brings up visions of Eliza Doolittle the flower girl in Pygmalion /my fair lady, minus feeding the birds.
i love birds & I feed hundreds here at my place mornings & afternoons - pigeons, crested pigeons, rainbow lorikeets, crows, corellas, magpies, butcher birds. they are fun to watch.

Well worth a second read. People like her have stories to tell. She is just the type of person I would like to sit and chin wag with.

Good morning Gee.

Tears here because we had a similar darling in Weymouth... forever memorable in walking to her own tune. Your words are so gently put, surely admiring the beauty of that woman's spirit. Beautiful, Gee.. truly.

' But others thoughts of no consequence - she has song and seed to share - so she sings to those that flutter down - with pretty flowers in her hair. '

Hi EmmaJ, hope you are keeping well.
Thank you
I recall seeing a story of an elderly woman that fed birds and cats. She had names for four of the cats. The names - funny enough - were the same as her children she lost to a fire.

Great poem, Gee.

Every city has this lady or man.
Maybe walked away from the trouble and strife of life, but she's the first thing you notice when you visit the town. Strangely enough when you don't see them for a time you begin to wonder what happened to them.

I wonder who else took the time you took to see her Gee. It isn't everyone, I can assure you of that.
No drama of her plight, just happy to share with those less judgemental creatures, grateful at being acknowledged and sharing whatever small kindness they can.
Hmm! Must read again to find the allegory of writing this, on this site, without judgement and open to interpretation where people are allegedly free to be, say and do as they please. Na! Must be imagining it 😊
Hope all is as well as can be expected with you and yours on this most wintry of spring days. (even old ma nature is getting the hang of irony) 😊

Sounds like the portrait of an urban saint, one of those homeless people who still have something to give to the birds. Who knows where she will sleep tonight? Hopefully, someone as kind as she will take her in.

Thanks for dropping in JTB
A poor soul with a loving heart feeding pigeons probably. Delightfully visual, lyrical in content. I could sing it, but my voice is not the best. There are souls like this everywhere who have nothing and yet they give what little they have. Salt of the earth. Hope all is OK Gee.
