Do dogs go to heaven

Do dogs go to heaven

A Poem by Gee
"

A family member gone :(

"
An empty bed
a bowl not filled
and aching hearts
now his is stilled...

Author's Note

Gee
Jake was a 5th Christmas present for my daughter who is now nearing her 21st birthday.
I cradled him as his wee heart stilled. Miss him terribly. The pup, Max, now wears his collar in his honour.

Losing a precious dog is so sad, especially if they are up in age and you've had them for some time . You wrote a beautiful eulogy for Jake, and your new pup will be a good comfort. Enjoy!
Best, B.

Than you, will do
It's so sad to lose a trusted friend, whether animal or human. The title brought back a memory for me I'd like to share. I heard a young boy ask a preacher once if animals went to heaven. The preacher, with imperial authority, declared to the boy that animals did not have souls, were incapable of repentance or salvation and thus, could not go to heaven. The boy looked puzzled for a minute and then asked, "But, preacher, where did Jesus get that white horse he's riding in Revelation? Just like that the preacher's whole argument fell through. All he could think of to say was, Well, son, with God, all things are possible. So I would venture that includes animals being in heaven. It was an exchange I'll never forget. I enjoyed the read.

Each dog we have lost has been a terrible heartache
This, our last because of our age, will be even worse and I don't know if my 50% heart will be able to handle it
They are such wonderful companions

AWWWW! This is so precious! Sad, but precious, becuz the way you share your heart is like no other on this website. You have the most tender, caring heart! This dog represents your daughter's life, basically, so it's more than just losing a pet. It's the end of an era. Keep your paws up! (((HUGS)))

Thank you :)
Why an Ark for the saving of creatures if they were considered non-essential - QED, of course they go to heaven. And when lost to the celestial green fields up there, stillness looms, hovers and never quite goes away. So many sights and sounds linger - tearfully missed when... gone. A dog is for life.. both owner and darling beast.. a memory that walks to heel -or not - forever. Your poem needs a pack of tissues, Gee, is sad and beautiful

I've always said losing a dog is no different than losing a sibling. It killed me when I lost my dog many years ago. They're true friends that never complain and always fill our hearts with love. I'm sorry for your loss.
