Dark POEtry...A tapestry fresh sewn

Dark POEtry...A tapestry fresh sewn

A Poem by Gee
"

Yet more simple words :)

"
Melancholia sits well with me
she is always at my side,
she is my pen and blackest ink
she is my dark hour bride,
a bride that will not censor me
will not invite the light
instead like me she'll glory in
the quiet, still of night,
when as all sleep we prowl and roam
through stones that proclaim death,
watched by the ravens beady eye
warmed by the reapers breath,
until the dawning of the day
until the sun is known,
until the page a tapestry
of poems freshly sewn...

I absolutely adore this. As the title displays, it is very akin to Mr. Poe himself and his work. He's a favorite of mine. Well done, Gee!

You’re very welcome. :)
She is a steadfast companion. A loyal muse that powers the pen.
"she is my dark hour bride"
These words tell me how intimate the poet feels with this muse.
A very enjoyable read!

Thank you:)
A splendid read, weaving words into warp and weft to build the fabric of our lives. just like the Norns of old. It doesn’t have to rhyme, have the same syllable count or even make sense, it is what it is.

Perfect meter and interesting rhyme scheme (if that is a specific poetic form, please forgive my ignorance), what a pleasure to read. I love the underside, underworld, chthonic perspective.

IMHO a poem doesn't need a perfect count to read okay :)

Reading aloud is a wonderful practice, you get a feel for the work as it is spoken - what’s a spel.. read more

Good point, it would just be a bunch of hocus pocus har har
Me too my kind friend.

Sometimes, all I have is words and the song. It is hell becoming old. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome my dear friend.
Love these lines! Smooth flow and great rhyme. Sometimes we do our best work at the dark of night. I really like this one, Gee.

Thank you Ken, will pop in for a read at the weekend
The stillness of night is why I usually wake at the silly O'clock hours (it's currently just after 3am)
But I just enjoy watching the day begin. I don't go out where the beasties and goblins roam, I just watch it from my kitchen window, with coffee in hand and radiator toasting me.
We had the first snow of the season yesterday (in flecking September!!!) so at least I take comfort in knowing some beasties and goblins will be hibernating for a while... But I'm still not going out to check. 😊
Great piece Gee. Full of where those thoughts take you in the stillness of night.
