Birthing poetry

Birthing poetry

A Poem by Gee
"

Early morning writing before work starts

"
A coffee cup that warms the hand
a pooch across his lap
the tick and tock of passing time
a single digit tap
that births the letters, words and verse
as poetry is born
whilst all sleep soundly in their beds
on an early summer morn'.

This was Mary Oliver’s method of writing while the world still slept. Walking and writing, although I read once a poem is a walk, meaning I think that it ambles to anything of interest before returning to the route home.

Yes, sometimes the path walked is a surprise to those that hold the pen as well.

Hi Gordon,
Have not been able to find the time to read any poetry…
I just reread several of yours that I already left reviews for and then happened upon this one of yours.
Definitely enjoyed the read….yes, finding the time to write… many times when everyone else is sound asleep…
How are you feeling?

a lovely, lyrical 'quickie' poem gee.
great rhythm too.
i'm with you on the coffee plus writing, and I'm also a single digit typist too! 😀
with two finger typing, I just can't spell, concentrating too much on 2 fingers, so I keep it to the 1.
have a good weekend

This "quickie" is very inspiring and, a lovely read! I too find the creative juices flow better in the early morning and, at times, in the late night right before bed. Of course, sometimes the inspiration comes in the middle of the day when a word or phrase strikes us in just the right way and, we have to do something with it. I truly enjoyed this quickie, Gee. Thank you, Temp

So sweet and lyrical Gee. Poetry chooses its own time to be born. Great rhythm, rhyme, and love that you included your pup in it!

Nice one, G. I find myself up so early these days and feel I ought to write, but watch the telly. Readhing this may give me a lesson: I should be more hardworking.

Sometimes idle is best though too much telly will give you square eyes :)

I often tell myself I should rise early and write, exactly because of what you describe so well in this poem. Sadly, I am not a morning person. Obviously you are, and your work demonstrates the benefits.
