Consistency Through Misery

Consistency Through Misery

A Poem by R. J. North

They say misery loves company
I won't be misery's company
but I will be company to my friend
and if my friend happens to bring misery to the party
then misery is more than welcome

If misery is your best friend
I will fight for that spot in your heart
When you bail on me for a night alone with misery
I will interrupt your date and steal your attention
I won't let him win your affections

I need you to know that I adore you
That I think you are so valuable
Would you believe me if I told you
You're the answer to my prayers
That you're an incredible person
And you're an inspiration to me
That even on your darkest days
You are my happiest moment

I know that you're hurting
And I know some days you can't figure out why
I know you want to be alone and forget the world
But you don't want to feel forgotten
I know you're not pushing me away
I know it's entirely misery's fault
I promise I don't blame you
And I still love you just the same
Because if i were a candle
You'd be my flame

So on you're darkness nights
I will be your guiding light
I will win your heart
This is where you and misery part
Take my hand
I will help you stand
We will walk together
Until you're strong enough on your own
But I will always be close by
I just can't be your bones

Sadness and pain can over take us. It can consume and weaken every part of you. The support of a loved one, a rock. Loves structuring engineer can be a crutch long enough, to weather the storm.

I enjoyed your poem. Thanks for sharing.
