Emily Dickenson's dreaming of Amherst.

Emily Dickenson's dreaming of Amherst.

There's a big old steel gate around her grave
Though It makes no difference - crypt or cave
'Cause clocks won't tell the time of day
To those that sleep in dirt or clay.

It's dark - it's deep - what's small will creep.
From the depths of soil on thee they'll heap
As one takes the long nap in their plot
Where quarters are tight, like it or not.

Haven't been here in a bit. I like this one. Very poetically curt, and final, in keeping with the theme.

Thanks Pat.
I found this, so I hope it will make You feel a little better that I did, despite the fact that I'm glad I found it, Your rhythm and flow are wonderful, Your irony adds another flavor, what I love about this that You made all humans equal, nothing matters after death, we all will share the same thing no matter whom we were in our lives.

Thank you.
Emily would appreciate this...she wrote so often from the perspective of the dead...and having a poet write about her in the grave, turning to dust, with no mention of God...i think she would be fascinated with this
take on her..."dark--it's deep"
yes,
don't know how i missed this one before, i surely like it , as you would imagine...

Pleased to find this one Tim. Always a sucker for rhyme and meter especially when it is so well done. Hope you get some more reviews soon.
Emily was a great poet.

Thanks, Chris.
Emily might be the last to get a grave. They tell me space is running out.
Which is not good fortune for our litter critters who like to visit in the 'dead' of night, though I suppose it's always night down there.
