Writers Cafe - Once in a while, they still come back.

A Poem by Relic

Once in a while,

as though pulled in by some desire
or force,
some decide to take a ride back
to Writers Cafe.

It's not always a long visit, yet
they still come back
as though returning to their old home.

"I remember Robbie,
or Marie, or Frieda P," they might say.

They may recall this place in a way one might remember
flags that lined porches
or trees on each side of the street where they lived.
But still, they remember this place.
Their names are still on the mailbox.

For better or worse, this is a community.

Some have moved on, as they should.
And some are still here, pruning nouns
or mowing verbs.

Some have even died.

The street may look different.
Trees may be bigger.
And old friends may be gone for good.

But on this block,
you're never turned away
no matter how long you've been gone
or how many times you move on.

There will always be opportunities to write about
the sun, the rain, a train...

Writers Cafe
on this block, once in a while,
they still come back.

Well, one of the new ones here. So far it doesn't look like the other sites I've been on.. Wattpad and writing.com.. Grrrrrr everything is about paying for getting advertised and the a*s kissing..

Don't care for that stuff, sooo after some exploration I decided on this site

We'll see how it goes.
Cheers

I appreciate your thoughts on this, Fia. Thanks.
You captured the sense of community and writers beautifully here. Couldn't agree more with it about the Writers cafe. I still come back here after I have long gone. Happened many times, for good or worse. It's like been a seesaw, come back, gone away, come back again, gone away, sometime a downtime, sometime lack of inspiration to write, sometime no desire to read anymore. But then, Writers cafe has always been a place that welcomes back. I'm glad I still share and read here. Thank you Relic.

Good to know, thank you for the company. I don't feel alone on this now :)
Hello R. I love this poem about Writer's Cafe. You have captured the essence of 'the café' superbly. It is indeed like a family run Café where we all meet to chat and write and comment. As in life, many have many have swapped writing poetry on earth to writing poetry in Spirit, but those of us left love to meet up with our friends in this really lovely, warm and welcoming group. Everybody is so kind and we give our very best to entertain each other. I so agree that there are always opportunities to write and share. I can't imagine a day without a daily visit! A very sweet, appealing, charming and excellently penned poem, dear R. I so enjoyed reading and I, thank you for sharing. Wishing you a very nice, relaxed and pleasant evening. I hope it's filled with inspiration for you to write more of your delightful poetic gems. I look forward to reading and commenting...

Thanks so much, Thomas. Likewise.
LOL I always pop back... this place is still like home to me:) my absence is more due to absence of brain power more than moving on LOL I have still been on medium too just not as much:/ I have pages upon pages of unfinished poems its funny had you asked me just how long it was going to take me to heal I would have never guessed it would be this long but as it turns out my psychical healing took much less time then my mental healing of which is still very much a work in progress:/ Enough about the bunny I love how you made the comparison to the café with a neighborhood street:) what a perfect analogy! Its so funny how I still feel a connection to all of you and I don't think that will ever go away in so many ways you guys have helped me in my own evolutions of write its as if you are all ghost writers when I scribble a poem
