Writers Cafe - Once in a while, they still come back.

Once in a while

as though pulled in by some desire,

or force,

some decide to take a ride back

to Writers Cafe.

It's not always a long visit, yet, 

they still come back

as though returning to their old home.

"I remember Robbie,

or Marie, or Frieda P," they might say.

They may recall this place in a way one might remember 

flags that lined porches,

or trees on each side of the street where they lived.

But still, they remember this place.

Their names are still on the mailbox.

For better or worse, this is a community.

Some have moved on, as they should.

And some are still here pruning nouns

or mowing verbs.

Some have even died.

The street may look different.

Trees may be bigger.

And old friends may be gone for good.

But on this block, 

you're never turned away

no matter how long you've been gone 

or how many times you move on.

They'll always be opportunities to write about

the sun, the rain, a train...

Writers Cafe - 

on this block, once in a while, 

they still come back.

Well, one of the new ones here. So far it doesn't look like the other sites I've been on.. Wattpad and writing.com.. Grrrrrr everything is about paying for getting advertised and the a*s kissing..

Don't care for that stuff, sooo after some exploration I decided on this site

This is true, a community indeed...I find I write more then desired then leave this block to visit a new one, But Something in life comes to me when my eyes and brain are least expecting it, and It always brings me right back to the book, which always brings me here... Writers cafe drive

This is me. Right now. Ha! I seem to write a lot suddenly, and then not a thing for a long time. When the fit takes me I'll check my "mailbox" and see what else is out there.

An interesting read, this. I am new to this format so I do not know the people mentioned but I understand that perhaps you built friendships through your shared love of the written word? As an outsider I have some trepidation about a new "community". People who see themselves as a click or a club are seldom welcoming to outsiders. But I have overcome greater obstacles in the real world and in places I have moved and lived. I hope there will be some here who are not quick to judge or make anyone new feel like an unwelcome outcast. I wanted to read this to gain some insight into the inner workings of the site. You must be here a long time.

That is very profound and interesting that I ran across this today since I haven’t been on hardly at all for years. I started here somewhere around 2008 and was pretty consistent for several years writing and reviewing. I slowly slipped away (life happens) except to occasionally put a piece on here simply so I would have it stored on a site on the Internet. This was a good read heavy with nostalgia for me. Thanks for that. Kudos to you.
