Rheum

Rheum

A Poem by ?:

His eyes were peeled apart
Entire landscape replaced by
An absence of light
And reluctant reminder:
Sleep's venomous fang had sunk into his neck again
Frantically the man fumbles about himself,
Foolishly finding his feet
Frolicking and flirting through the field of fictional characters
That have filled the floor
Reassembling reality,
He realizes he resides in a realm of reading
His time here will be finite
And remembering the task at hand
The man begins to cram his brain
With all the information it can stand to hold
Truth be told, he is still weak and cold
Without proper stimuli to keep his eyes from drawing closed,
The man begins to write!
Painstakingly seeking some greater insight
Quite illustrious, he strives to be
But just as flustered as the rest of us,
Sinks back
Receding to a deeper sleep
