Grandpa Arthur

Grandpa Arthur

A Poem by Heather

First off ide like to thank everyone who has come to pay their respects

Ive known grandpa Arthur for many years

I am very grateful and blessed for knowing such a man

He was an amazing to everyone he knew

Very smart, intelligent, funny, loving, kind-hearted

These are only a few simple words to describe grandpa arthur

In October I had asked him what he had wanted for christmas

He told me, breathing heavily, that he enjoyed anything about history

That same weekend, I went out to buy a large book on history

I gave it to my dad, Arthur Roberge

When grandpa Arthur received the book, aunty Kathy told me he was very happy

I know he was in pain and we all wanted it to end, but

I had received the news yesterday

It had hit me hard

I found it burnt another hole in my heart

The first whole was when my great grandmother passed away in june

Just knowing he passed away, with the book I had gotten him

It helped me knowing I had made a difference in the last few weeks.

I am moving on and I will not cry

It would hurt him, up in heaven

To see anyone in his family hurt

Because I know he will be watching over us

And this is what makes me happy

Rest in peace grandpa Arthur

You will always be in our hearts

thank you so much
first i am really sorry for you lose, i know how much hard it can be.
second, im happy you have given him somthing he likes at the last time..
third, i think you better cry, i dont think that really hurts him because you are already hurt and tears are like water washing sadness..
im happy you are trying to move on
so sad but nicely penned..

beautifully written. loved this piece. as for this:

I am moving on and I will not cry
It would hurt him, up in heaven
To see anyone in his family hurt

believe me he would rather see you cry ... it will only confirm how much he meant to you. crying is normal and healthy and you really do feel better afterwords... (this from a 54 year old man) I am not afraid of it and neither should you. You can be sure he shed a tear or two thinking about not being with you.

a very good write. I am so sorry for your loss.
