The Gift

Is it better to feel both the good and the bad or nothing at all?

Each life's a shadow,
And the light's on its way.
Illumination shall come.
It could even be today.

To make the most of your time,
That is your mission.
To experience every emotion,
You need no one's permission.

Sometimes I wish I were a robot,
Who felt neither pain nor joy,
And lived my life in the centre,
As neither girl nor boy.

I don't want to die.
I don't even want to live.
My only wish is to feel.
