She Listened

She Listened

A Poem by Stephanie Knight
"

A depiction of a broken family through a third person's eyes.

"

She listened to the footsteps stomping down the stairs.

She listened to the yelling across the house.

She listened to the slamming of the front door.

She listened to the car door shutting.

She listened to the car starting up.

She listened to the wheels rolling across the gravel.

She listened to the car driving off.

She listened to the silence that entered the house.

She listened…to the broken family.
