Racing On Forever

Racing On Forever

A Poem by Rose F.

I’m tired of thinking
I wish my brain would shut down
I’m tired of listening
I wish the world would cease to sound

Because I’m tired of feeling guilty
Lost, afraid, and alone
I’m tired of feeling angry
Frustrated and unknown

If I could be something
I would be beautiful and loved
I daydream of that too much
And nothing is ever done

I wish someone could hear my thoughts
And say “I completely understand.
This pain is only temporary.”
And kindly pat my hand

But still everything goes on in my lonely mind
The world will not cease to sound
And so I cannot stop thinking
And my brain will never shut down

Author's Note

Rose F.
I was completely burnt out from college when I wrote this. I had no time for myself, my family, or my friends. Just work, work, work, school, school, school.
