Phantom In A Fishbowl

Poem about feeling trapped in ones life.

"Phantom In A Fishbowl"

Little feet that can't
Quite understand yet
The importance of
Folded clothes and
Clean white rugs
Keeping things neat
Better wipe off those feet
Those little feet that
Can't quite understand
That dirty dishes
Breed much more than germs
And the buildup is much harder
To dissolve
When those little feet
Come running
And you look
Into those little eyes
And see the resemblance
Of your former lover
Your child's father
And all the dirty dishes
He never would wash
You had hoped for better
But it feels as though times run out
And you're
Just a phantom
In a fishbowl

Came across this just now – noted it was 2014 – so guess life has moved on! From the outside of your write, the reader can see that single mums don’t have the same free will as other single women. They have undergone massive life shifts from single-hood; pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding; enduring radical changes to both body and mind. As you penned – like living in a fishbowl … just hope life has moved on from when you first penned this piece! :-)

Brittany, I loved your play on words. Not everyone will get this, because it is so well written.
Art is sometimes overlooked.
Well done.
