The Choice

The Choice

A Poem by Aaron Parker
"

This was one of my favorites to write. Enjoy!

"

Tethered by a silver cord

Of shared memories

Bound by the shackles

Of our golden embrace

*

Finding each other and ourselves

As we stride by moonlight

To our apocryphal rendezvous

Under the canvas of a star light sky

*

The vines of our love spread

Growing over doubt, depression, and misery

Blooming happiness over a graveyard of dreams

Weaving a web of intricate lace

A protective net on which to lie

*

Love for you, an unchained melody

Dreams of you, a paradise

Your whisper a deafening encouragement

Emerald eyes and ruby lips an escape

*

I loved you with all I was

*

But heavy hands and a greedy heart

Caused the inferno

That tore us apart

*

Uncovering those old emotions

Allowing them to escape and propagate

Over the nutritive remains

Of our once flowering love

*

As our Camelot collapses around us,

Fearful am I,

I cannot lose you, my love

But a choice I must make
