Born to Die

Born to Die

A Poem by Aaron Parker
"

I may have stolen the title from Lana Del Ray, but the poem is nothing like her work.

"

"Of all creatures that breathe and move upon the earth, nothing is bred that is weaker than man."

          - Homer, "The Odyssey"

Silk wraps its gentle arms

Over closed eyes,

The most deafening silence

Splits both ears,

Slithering molten lead

Fills corroded veins

*

Broken integrity

Denigrated character

Forgotten honor

*

Transient commitments

Empty grey feelings

Impotent regrets

*

A being sanctified, consecrated,

Born to die

Again, I am not agnostic or an atheist. The last couple of lines are merely metaphorical. Thanks! Honesty is always appreciated.
