Swahili

Swahili

A Poem by Mark
"

African music always fills me. If there were only one sound to send as representative of the human race, I would have to choose the music of Africa

"

I want to sing in Swahili to the bright points in the night sky

I would lift my arms in sad joy to the Universe where

life is good and bad

Joyful and painful.

I want to sing in Swahili

and dance around the mimicking fire

encouraging sparks to take their place

in a milky-way sky.

i love that music too...there is something so primitive and natural and soothing about it.

as with this poem...i hear the melody through these words.

Thank you jacob. I'm glad I've captured that natural soothing feeling of the music for you!
Ask me to teach you swahili because where I come from that is our official language after english. I love this poem particularly because it talks about our African culture. First things first.
when you come to kenya, greetings in swahili are Habari yako of which we answer mzuri sana.

Some day I will go to Africa. Thank you for reading. :)
I love native songs and music. Especially Native American. There's a spirituality ...a feeling of connection with something bigger then we are. Fantastic poem Mark!

yes, there is. Funny how a combination of sounds can provoke such emotion eh?
Me too. A joyful and happy poem. Would be nice to sing a Swahili song and enjoy the location. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

A lovely poem tinged with a sad desperation for something simple, true and honest. A song that can be trusted amongst the complications of the life of the modern world.

Music always has me travelling. If there is music, I am centered. Your next bonfire is gonna be a blast! Angi~
