Swahili

Swahili

A Poem by Mark
"

African music always fills me. If there were only one sound to send as representative of the human race, I would have to choose the music of Africa

"

I want to sing in Swahili to the bright points in the night sky

I would lift my arms in sad joy to the Universe where

life is good and bad

Joyful and painful.

I want to sing in Swahili

and dance around the mimicking fire

encouraging sparks to take their place

in a milky-way sky.

thank you sir
Wouldn't we all, apart from those who speak Swahili, possibly??
Accepting good - bad- joy- pain - to an extent but to wish for painful/bad ( as in, cruel fate) times, I think not. None the less, a thought provoker, Mark.

Hmmm, interesting juxtaposition, "sad joy" Have you ever been to Africa? Their music is very full of the human heart-beat.

No I haven't but the music seems both celebrational and mournful at the same time
I can hear you from here, although I don't understand a word you're singing, great one, and I can dance to it!

Ha good teamwork I'd say! ;-)
The secret to life, eh? Everyone's always searching for it but I think you've unlocked it, here. In order to feel and experience and revel in absolute joy, you have to feel ultimate sorrow. The highs and lows of our lives create a myriad of twists and turns, not unlike a wild roller coaster, and we are all the better for having bought a ticket.

Sing to your heart's content, Mark. Sing as loudly as possible, especially in Swahili.

Hii ilikuwa ni kuandika kubwa, which, of course, means "this was a great write" (or very close, anyway) in Swahili ;-)

Nice!
is is the drum beats that fill you so? i always find that the music which really digs deep into my soul is contingent upon where my heart is at the time. this is a joyful and thoughtful write, an excellent exploration of the inner being and the effects of primal instinct and music. well done!
