Steel Words

Steel Words

A Poem by Mark
"

It was once thought knowing someone's name gave you power over them. It's why God told his people to call Him YHVH (I am who am). Words have power... but only as much as we give them.

"
We search, we compose, we read.
Seeing is conceiving is believing.
Night time noise, by us anguished
feelings we're responsible for; relinquished.

When lines are meant to be steel.
Razor sharp and thirsty...
still, these words must have our permission
to penetrate, to hurt, to enrage.

In our hearts, in our minds, in our souls
we rule and we decide.
Here, our armor is only ever self punctured,
our wounds prevented by the simple armor; " You can't hurt me."

Thank you Thomas! :)
Very cool my friend. Indeed, words are one of the most powerful things we have, sometimes good, sometimes destructive, but always powerful. Your poem is exceptional.

thank you so much Jack :)
I agree with right, we can only let words affect as much as we want if we give it 'permission' so to say. If we ignore a rude comment it can't hurt us ~ It could but not as much. Whereas if we let someone walk all over us and be rude and say nasty things then yes, words will hold that power over us. I don't think I've got this right and if I haven't I'm sorry. Nice work, son.
