Bats in the Belfry

Bats in the Belfry

A Poem by Inyourshadow
"

For a contest about what animal are you

"

I am the bat that hangs around,
and gets about by aid of sound.

I flap my arms to scare the dawn,
and through the day just stretch and yawn.

I have a hate for all things light,
and much prefere the shadowed night.

I love the music of Nocturne,
and dawn chorus I frequenet spurn.

So remember this when you seek me,
you'll find my friends in my belfry.

Bats..ughhh, I've seen so many of these as a child growin up in an old house. This poem almost makes me feel somewhat bonded to them....or maybe I feel sorry for these nasty little creatures. They are just misunderstood I think. jk :)

I hope it does well in the contest as well, certainly well crafted enough that it should do well

Your rhyme cadence is familiar... like I know this style before. I mean, like I know you for years. It's wonderfully penned, "I flap my arms to scare the dawn, and through the day just stretch and yawn..." Wich creature are you? for REAL? ;)
