A Poet's Room

A Poet's Room

A Poem by Ishan Sadwelkar

A Poet’s Room

A poet’s room

Is devoid of

Walls, windows

Curtains, shelves

Even a ceiling

There is no commitment throughout

And no promise

Not even cracked partitions

On the changing floor

Maybe some periodic stimulations

Of human seasons

Scenes from the past

Well acted out by himself

Selfless images of ideas

Scattered as sentences

In the weak air around him

A drizzle of papers

And inconsistent blots

Of invisible expressions

People surround him as inspirations

Gods hover above his sleep

A poet’s room

Has no hidden chaos, no lies

No openings and no exits

Only the unseen illusion

Of witnessing the pseudo

And certain well-preserved meanings

Of words and thoughts

To be used again sometime

to describe

His changing room.

I really do love this. So honest, so open. Depicts all possibilites of conveying one's self, which is what is often found in poetry. Excellent piece, truly.

a poet's room . . . a wonderful piece of work with certain well-preserved meetings.

I almost missed it.

Neat. Intriguing. It has a touch of personality, I can tell, and the lack of punctuation sets it aside from others.

beautiful away of describing your poet's room .However I must admit that mine is a bit different

I like your idea of your poet's room. Mine is personally nothing like that, mine has plenty of hidden chaos and a heck of a lot of lies. And, of course, I'm not a guy. Not that I'm a feminist and I'm scolding you for being gender specific, because I'm not. A part of me is glad you made this personal and not completely objective and inclusive because that's what the world and poetry is about. You can't include everyone and you shouldn't have to. I like this poem and your ever-changing world of ideas and imagination. Great flow and rhythm, nice imagery with a hint of a minimalist atmosphere. Well done.

Love the enchantment of this place.. this world.. no walls.. no exits.. This is a richly woven write that exudes the passion and life of the poet, flowing like a river with no boundaries. Wonderful read!

Gees......... Ishan, this is MAGICAL!!!!!!!! I LOVED it!!!! You captured the impossible - and your word structure was - huh. I applaud you. A wonderful, whisper-like prose that strives to explain (with considerable success) the on-goings of the writers world.
Brilliant.
