Impetus

Impetus

A Poem by Ivey Winters

Impetus - the force or energy with which a body moves .

The color of passion was once a drab red,
but tonight you've redefined
the very word as I lay beneath your moss eyes,
using your lips to suffocate my screams.
You cling to my body like a fever-inducing disease;
such a terrible, crippling ecstasy
you're igniting inside even the deepest depths of me.

So beautiful. I love the darkness it carries, even for a passionate piece. The "Fever-inducing disease"....the visions you create with your expertly chosen words amaze and captivate me. I read and re-read and struggle to move away. Although a short piece, it says so much and leaves me wanting more. So emotive and beautiful imagery.
Thanks for sharing, Ivey.

This is so strong. The metaphors are original, vivid, and startling.

Short, but powerful. The verse emanates a strong feeling.

Amazing use of words. The description allowed the reader to feel the desire and secret places lovers can go. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.
