Give Them a Break

Give Them a Break

A Poem by J Todd Underhill

"

Much has been written and sung about truckers,

The women and men that move this country.

They’re the hardest working mother fuckers,

To overstate the obvious bluntly.

Their safety is not all they have in mind,

But those that drive the highway with them.

Duckin’ and dodgin’ into spots so blind,

Pulling near misses from odds that are grim.

In an effort to deliver the load;

Then head off again down the interstate.

Then driving red eyed down a two lane road,

Avoiding all traffic not to be late.

Be watchful for big rigs for goodness sake,

And when they are working give them a break.
