Restoring of Kings

Restoring of Kings

A Poem by J. Hampton
"

In Part a tribute to those who put it all on the line for civil rights...and in part a commentary where "unity" and "faith" divide we lose so much. the origianl piece was epic. In Part a tribute to those who put it all on the line f

"

Restoring of rainbows

Restoring our dreams

Restoring the truth

Restoring of Kings

Martin, Marley,Malcolm,Gandhi

helped broken spirits rise above

a nation with two faces

armed only walking in..." the dove"

Teach our children " ALL" history......send the truth back to school

Don't Even call that ...((( REPARATIONS ))) !

40 acres  and a mule ?

we reneged that whole "Jim-crow" mess

But not that " One-drop Rule"

"How to Kill a Mocking bird", "A Raisin in the Sun"

"Guess Who's Comin' to Dinner"????

Mumami dressed in "The Color Purple"

with that " Green Mile " yet to run

Emancipation Proclamation...Freeee-dom for who?

" Mandela...Selassie...and " Hurricane" knew

Segregation...Integration.......Separate but equal ????

Sooooo ...( gray ) ...becomes a nation

Who will do the sequel ?

Do we stand united....One nation under God ?

just whose backs built the railroad ?.....and tilled plantation sod ?

Racism in the past ?

just somehow went away ?

Rainbow Coalition

Affirmative Action by Attrition

Don't kill the messenger .......or so they always say

As for Martin...or Malcolm ...it didn't work that way

Money buys..." protection ".....or so some would call it

Don't have much ? ....No worry

Ya get 41 shots ...just like Diallo's wallet

stay soakin' up that knowledge... as far as you can see

so you wont be " Bamboozled" ......like they were at Tuskegee

Victory with no Violence...Victims without names

Vindication by silence ?

Babylon set precedent.

Does ALL …freedom taste the same ?

If Faith grows in unity...then why did it sour ?

when we shuffle off to worship.....at our most-divided hour

Would a Christian pray with Muslims?

or a Buddhist heal a Jew ?

Can you talk "hope" with an Atheist?

Would a Rastafari trust in you ?

Know the distance to our purpose

bridge the gap between our goals

NOT ...knowing is the enemy

Knowing… rebuilds souls

Restoring of Rainbows

Restoring of Dreams

Restoring of Truth

Restoring of Kings

AMAZING!!!! I love it! I am all about the politics. You did a wonderful job weaving this patch quilt of history and historic people.

Victory with no Violence...Victims without names
Vindication by silence ?
Babylon set precident.....
Does ...ALL freedom taste the same ?

Amen sister! No it doesn't taste the same, but they can season it to fool us and believe it is.

Teach our children " ALL" history......send the truth back to school
Don't Even call that ...((( REPARATIONS ))) .......40 acres and a mule !!!
we reneged that whole "Jim-crow" mess.....But not that " One-drop Rule"

One-drop will never go away...to beat into the heads of our forefathers who passed it down generations and never cleared the air. Sad, to think that our schools don't teach history the way it should. The Germans just started telling the truth about the holocaust a few years back. Why is everyone so afraid of the truth. If everyone could read you words and dwell upon the moment maybe that would change. You have cooked up a meal of hate and wrapped it words of love to feed the hungry freedom starved soul.

Thank you sharing.

Teach the young an let them lead the way ..This is great reading...BUT ,,this is THICKHEAD here,,and Im in need of a breakdown of what this meant.

Would a Christian pray with Muslims? ....or a Buddhist heal a Jew ?
Can you talk "hope" with an Atheist ?......Would a Rastafari trust in you ?

There is no judgement in my question ,just a thirst to understand..
I can answer all 4 questions without doubt ,yes ,yes ,yes and yes..

I love how you start this poem off, it flows so wonderfully all the way thorough. Reading your work, I always feel uplifted in some way. This poem packs a powerful punch, for those that don't know, they learn a quick and powerful lesson of history and get walked through a time line. This was beautifully written and I enjoyed the rhyme in it :-) Thanks for posting.

This is one of the best poems that I've ever read in this genre...

Your creativity with words makes you one of a kind, and the message was imparted strongly and beautifully... and I love the "hook"...

Restoring of Rainbows
Restoring of Dreams
Restoring of Truth
Restoring our Kings

This gives me a feel when you say "restoring our kings".... like that other guy here said, if I may quote him (Johnathan Escoffery) about how a King can symbloze a man or a woman, because I don't feel like this really discriminated between a man and a woman, but gave hope and wisdom to everyone...

thanks for sharing!

Well executed, and beautifully written. I have to admit I had to look a few things up to get the refference... but it flows so well. Sorry it took me so long to review it, I'm way behind.

This was so easy to read, filled with history in a moment of tribute. The pace alone packs a wallop, and the rhyme didn't hurt...in fact, how else could it have been said. "NOT ...knowing is the enemy......Knowing rebuilds souls"...brilliant! Phrasing, familiarity with subjects, imagery, philosophical attitude, speed...it's all here, it's all great. The refrain is a song itself...a great read.

It's easy to casually browse through a poem and just drop a few blithe comments about how dope it is without having really absorbed what the writer is actually putting across.

This piece is impossible to just gloss over as you've really captured the true essence of the need for a deeply felt spiritual understanding and recognition of the true commonality of all human existence under the divine gaze.

I'm glad I took the time to check this piece out and I'll be sure to view your other works in due course.

My great grandfather worked laid the tracks of the railroad across the southeast... I mentioned it in a poem of mine.

I love this write. It hits hard, bounces me through history, reminds me of moments sitting on the floor at my great-grandparents house, and later, my grandparents house, and now... watching my daughter at the table at my parents house.

(((Side bar))) You know, a million men marched... the rested on their laurels. What happened?

This stanza woke me up:

Teach our children " ALL" history......send the truth back to school
Don't Even call that ...((( REPARATIONS ))) .......40 acres and a mule !!!
we reneged that whole "Jim-crow" mess.....But not that " One-drop Rule"

Great writing! I'm glad I stumbled across your page.
