Sleepy Sun, Awakened Moon

Sleepy Sun, Awakened Moon

A Poem by Rose Masen

Heavy lids, watery eyes
Lack of sleep is my demise.

Dreamland is far away from sight
No shut off switch for my wandering mind.

My body yearns for a peaceful slumber
The rays of light is when I'm pulled under.

Lazily and weak, I opt for other means
A tasty substitute known as caffeine.

I dare to imagine what it is to dream
Yet all I do is think of thoughts serene.

I live by the Sun and love by the Moon,
As the silver rays illuminate, hopefully pulling me under soon.
