Comparing myself to a Character

Just another writing prompt from, but this one is from my first Composition class.

For starters, I have been Hermione Granger my entire life. Well, sort of. I don't consider myself a know-it-all or a book worm. I do, however, talk a fair amount (coughs nonchalantly) more than the average person. For this reason alone, most people find me quite annoying. Being weird, goofy, and awkward on top of that, is why I can relate to my opening quote by Ronald Weasley. Alas, like Hermione, I (try) not to let what others say and/or think get under my skin. When the Harry Potter series made it's debut, I was in 7th grade. I had spent the previous 4 years attending a Catholic school. As if being smacked by the onset of puberty wasn't enough, I had to jump from a class of 20 to a class of 200! Luckily for me, only days into 7th grade, I decided to read J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Quickly identifying with the characters, these books became a much needed escape from reality. I would definitely say these books helped me through a difficult time in my life. No, I didn't run around with a cape or a broom playing Quidditch. And I surely didn't wave a wand reciting spells............

My youngest son (almost 27) devoured all the Harry Potter books and went to see all the movies, which was a delight and no burden at all for his old fantasy-loving father. If you're like Hermione, then I say you're a gem.

I’m definitely weird and awkward because I am just a silly person 🙃 It bothered me quite a bit when I was a kid. The Harry Potter books provided a desperately needed SAFE escape during a difficult transition in my life. I’ll always have a place in my heart for Harry Potter, and, of course, Hermione Granger.
