Summer's Return

Summer's Return

A Poem by JE Falcon
"

Music

"

I wish to speak in scarlet sunsets

and reminisce of amber tones

To walk those roads lined with roses

and to click my heels on the cobblestones.

I want to go back to those days of kings

Singing of lavender in blue suede shoes.

I did believe the colors flourished

Into purples, and whites, and other hues.

Ah, but alas, the kings all died

And I was riddled with the Summertime Blues.

Mabaline had made it --- to the top of the hill

So, --- I bought a ticket on a Sea Cruse.

Steel guitars took the colors away

And Maggie's farm was just a dream.

I took a look out my back door

Then off I rode on a submarine.

***

Years passed and I'm back in the garden,

(Rock-a-Billy and Rhythm and Blues).

It is like Summer, and it has returned

To purples, and whites, and other hues.

Ah, nothing like reminiscing about the good old summer with Blue sued shoes, and Elvis moving his pelvis and crooning away to teenage screams,,,, also sins of Dylan. Returning to the current scene is more jazz, summer blues and a new turn on colors and hues,.
Well done

A nostalgic trip down music road. Your opening stanza really draws the reader in. I am a huge Dylan fan and Elvis will always be King. I really enjoyed how you used colour here, that was lovely.

Ah, thanks, have a great day.
Thought for sure purple was Prince and Maggie was Rod Stewart. Back to the reading board for me.

A couple references that other reviewers didn't get might be Rod Stewart and Prince. I might be wrong. That's a good poem that becomes a little more interactive trying to catch all the references. Fun to read.

No, not those two, but good try.
A poetic ride through a potted history of pop music, from early rock'n'roll, through folk and country-rock to the modern diva! I'm a music lover, and I enjoyed the read!

Wonderful cadence to this one. I suspect that each line is a reference (Elvis, Dylan, CCR, Beatles, etc.) but I only recognize some of them.
