The Mind

The Mind

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

The mind is never quiet
It's soft voice never loud
Waiting for time
Time to be heard

It takes me to places
I wouldn't go
Some I wish to
Only for a few

The visions of some force
Some show pleasure
A companion on the course
Some show suffering
Hearts breaking, voices hoarse

Deep in the mind
I visit in late night
It finds me in quiet
Soothes my plight

A dark theme plays
It's notes soothe
The visitor's stays

The mind is never weak
It takes it's time
To softly speak
To those who slow
To take notice

My favorite part is:
“A dark theme plays
Its notes soothe
The visitor’s stays”

That right there gave me chills. I haven’t written is a great while so I can’t put into words the reason why I got chills. Just that a symphony of darkness never wanders far.

You are right my friend. The mind can never rest. Always moving and pondering new ideas. Hard to find silence. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
