What's Happened to my Muse?

What's Happened to my Muse?

A Poem by Joyce S. Greene
"

"Only the Shadow knows for sure" . . .

"

All alone, I wonder

what's happened to my Muse

Has he left me for another

or gone on a two week cruise

I admit my poetry

doesn't sing with passion

My words are never stylish,

nouveau nor in fashion

Did he finally conclude

I'm just too plain and boring

Was he dreaming of a poet

more sexy and alluring

Has he found the one

who really turns him on

A mermaid or a siren

who never makes him yawn

I can only pray my Muse

hasn't fallen beneath a tire,

under the wicked witch's spell

or become a Trump new hire

Does anyone have a clue

if my Muse has lost his life

Did anyone see Miss Scarlet

in the Billiards Room with the knife?

c'est la vie Joyce darlin. Viva Le Muse, alive and well. The image, adorable, dispels any thought, no matter how fleeting, of too plain and boring. Tom

This is great. It's funny with no swearing just like Bill Cosby used to be. That's awesome. Outstanding work Joyce

I was studying your syllable count...I thought for sure you were onto something. But I soon realized this magic free flowing poem of yours seemed to have no special mathematical formula. I don't normally search for such a thing, but I found something intriguing with your word choices and rhyme. I am not a technical writer, but I do like to try new things, especially if it done skillfully by another writer I admire. The only consistent thing I see here is a rhyme with every other line; very simply but effective. And I cannot forget to mention that the subject matter was playfully charming. :))

Did he finally conclude

I'm just too plain and boring

Was he dreaming of a poet

Ha ha ha, guess I never looked at a Muse that way. Perhaps he grew bored and started looking for another to inspire? hmmm....no I think not. He/she still speaks to you, but in an obscure sort of way.

Your poem left me with a final thought, a foot note of sorts. Perhaps inspiration "aka Muse" has to be earned? Perhaps it cannot be freely acquired.

Here I see a nice progression in thought. At first there is doubt and then develops the fear of mishap. Part and parcel of love life. dark staircase of insecurity explored very well.

Ha! I am picturing a flattened out muse, words and letters spilling from his cracked cranium! Tell him to stay out of the road! This was fun, Joyce. I love to read stuff that makes me laugh. Angi~

Ha! This made me chuckle, Joyce - but no, I did not see Miss Scarlet. I did, however, spy that Colonel Mustard with a candlestick in the library...
