Beware says the grown-ups

Beware says the grown-ups

A Poem by Kim
"

Children's view vs that of the adults around them

"
Beware the one that lurks in the shadows by the edge of town.
He may be a madman. The children says he lost his mind searching for treasures. The grown-ups says he lost his mind dreaming.
He might be insane. The children says it happened when he battled a wizzard in chess. The grown-ups says he battled the bottle.
He may be frightening. The children says he was once able to scare away monsters. The grown-ups says there's a good reason for that.
He might be miserable. The children says it's because an evil sorcerer had his revange. The grown-ups says he caused it himself.
He may be mean. The children says he need a light to show him the way. The grown-ups says he has no remorse in his heart.
He might be kind. The children says he might need a friend. The grown-ups says he'll kill you.
He may be many things, so beware the one that lurks in the shadows by the edge of town

Gee
The innocence of childhood , naivety can be oh so dangerous eh. And then we mature into cynical hard hearted fuckers (excuse ny French) who see only the worst in others. Love the cake !!

your welcome
I like the duality of their character from both the childs and adults perspective creates an element of uncertainty about this person. Felt that their could be more to the story like this was just setting the scene, as we do not fully know this persons character, although the piece does seem to work by itself aswell as a conveyor of this human phenomenon of differing perspective

Glad you enjoyed it. I didn't intend to write anything more from the beginning, however perhaps ther.. read more

Nice touch of uncertainty, mystery, dread. We've all had that close brush with the stranger of unknown origins and disconcerting intentions.

I liked this.
