Thunder and Lightning!

Thunder and Lightning!

A Poem by Jade Renee Bacon
"

Just about a storm.

"

Thunder and Lightning!

Crash! Thunder rolls along a dim horizon,

moving slowly towards the town.

Rain is brewing inside the clouds,

and the lightning cracks way too loud.

The storm is moving in,

pulling us into our homes,

Churches sing all their hymns,

no one's answering their phones.

Thunders rumbles over head,

waking children in their bed.

Lightning flashes brightly,

Mothers hold their darlings tightly.

Fathers sit on the front porches swinging,

lookin' out into the sky.

Lonely men stand upon the steps,

they keep asking, "Why, why, why?"

Thunder reminds us of time gone by,

of days and years.

Simpler times were long ago,

now all there is are salty tears.

Thunder rolls along a dim horizon,

moving slowly towards the town.

I like it as it. It remind me of a opening to a good book filled with good stories an fear. I like your description. You went many directions. But the poem held together. A excellent poem.
