Pedestal of the Sun

Pedestal of the Sun

A Poem by Jake Staffeld

Just when you feel alone
We're there for you
See the shining sun
It burns for you

Sometimes
We're all sad
When we forget
The happy days
And the smiles

These streets
Weren't meant
For suicide
And dark thoughts

Come around
It's not over
Just because you feel it
Doesn't mean it's true

Trust me
We'll stand with you
This is what we do
Stand by you

You're strong
Lifted up
And we'll make sure
You aren't toppled

The shine
Dims now
You're a flare in the dark
And we respect it

So we'll fight
Speak, think, live
To keep you up
On the pedestal
Of the sun

Love the message here. I pictured someone standing behind another person with an encouraging hand on their back while reading. I think in some places, mainly the second stanza, you could have used a little bit stronger language...'joyful' rather than 'happy,' etc.

I like the purpose of this poem. Sometime we need to assist our friends and family. Take them into the sun and create laughter and have some fun. I enjoyed the complete poem. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

I like the positive 'pep-in-step' tone you;ve implied in this piece...it adds so much to the musicality and message of it. This is truly a great upbeat piece to me...the sort that brighten your day:)
