Burn it all down

Burn it all down

For a second I'd like to close my eyes and imagine I don't live in a world where children are hurt
Dig my head into the sand and forget the word rape
Only a moment to join the sunshine as it warms an image of healthy happy children.
Well-adjusted, trauma free, singing little humans

But if I close my eyes for a moment, if I dig my head into the sand, they are forgotten.
So I'll join the clouds instead as they mourn the loss of innocence
And together we will try to wash clean the massacred.
Adjusted, trauma-survivor, shouting little fighters

But if only, if only, the sun could burn it all down
