Goodbye Sister

Goodbye Sister

A Poem by Jane Winters Rogers

Goodbye Judy
Time stopped the moment I heard
The words " she's gone.
The room I stood in, I felt grew
Darker when her breath stopped.
I leaned over and held her in my arms
I had been close by her side, when
She passed.
I watched as the color quickly left
Her face and lips.
There was nothing I could do to
Change death.
I said so long and kissed the still warm
Skin on her whitened cheek
Her body was so still when her
Spirit left.

Powerfully written, this sad experience is one that's well know to many of us--especially the ones like me who've been on earth a good while. So I've found, the world is never the same without them, and we're ever mindful of the empty space they leave behind.
