The Shepherd

The Shepherd

A Chapter by My Fair Lady
"

For Laurry- Beloved Uncle

"

Somewhere beyond the reach of the living

I hope you still get to enjoy the

Purple painted skies over your fields

I hope you still get to walk in the

swaying alfalpha

And along the pebble road you traveled

Somehow I hope you get to still be the shepherd

Keeping your watchful eye upon

The bellowing sheep

That surely miss you

Something about you has touched us all

Perhaps just your simple presence

Your easy spirit

You never minded being different

Did you even realize that your head

Had been kissed by the special angel?

I went by your house today

Its not the same without you there

While there was only standing room

Your favorite chair remained empty.

Today you will finally rest

Overlooking the fields and the wooly sheep

Perhaps today God will let you help him paint

Evening skies of pinks and purples

Author's Note

My Fair Lady
We will certainly miss my beloved Uncle- He was not quite right mentally, but not so wrong either. He was an example of kindess, never had a bad word to say about anyone, and lived a simple life.
